7 tips for a successful LinkedIn profile

Social media is an important part of today’s working world. LinkedIn in particular is a key platform. But do you know what information is relevant and what to look out for? With these 7 tips you can make your LinkedIn profile shine.

1. Profile picture

Your LinkedIn profile picture should be professional. Unfortunately, a selfie with your dog is not it in this case. Make sure you are well exposed and look your best. The topicality of your profile picture is also relevant, adjust it constantly.

2. List projects

Have you been able to carry out exciting projects during your career? Then list them! This will give your profile visitors a better insight into your professional career and they will be more likely to connect with you if they have something in common.

3. Networking with a personal message

Have you just been to an event and met some exciting personalities there? Then network with these people on LinkedIn! But be careful – please include a small personal message. This way, the respective people will remember you better and will be more likely to accept the enquiries.

4. Actuality

According to LinkedIn, you are still working for a former employer, but in reality you have already changed jobs twice. Treat your profile like your CV: always up to date.

"If your professional life had a film title, what would it be?"

5. Most important achievements from studies / further education

Be proud of yourself and your diploma. But also show the world what makes you proud. Be it group work, a field project or your Master’s thesis – list it!

6. Content

What do you think of accounts that are passive and never get in touch? Boring and irrelevant, right? Then post regularly on your LinkedIn. For example, you can share posts you like, write articles or post your own ideas. The most important thing is that you are active and you are noticed.

7. Profile slogan

When you look at a LinkedIn profile, you first look at the photo and then at the slogan. This is important to express your personality. Think about it like this: If your professional life had a film title, what would it be?
